My counseling approach seeks to engage individuals in a compassionate manner. I interact throughout the process rather than simply quietly reflecting back what you have said. Together we identify familiar yet currently unproductive styles of coping. I use techniques that emphasize moving away from fearing, fighting, or running from our most difficult thoughts and feelings and toward accepting them in the present moment with self compassion.
I address past experiences to understand your concerns to empower you to move beyond painful life events. I also work with couples in a similar manner. In relationships we may experience repetitive cycles that create an impasse, leaving each individual frustrated in what may seem an endless tug of war.
I specialize in working with issues of anxiety, depression, abuse, and excessive worry. I often address areas of self-criticism and self confidence that can be accompanied with both guilt and shame.
I have over twenty years of experience.
